The project cost is estimated at 40 million euros. It is expected that the first students will be able to receive the keys to the dorm rooms as early as 2025. The project will be built with respect for the environment. The management of the Cyprus University of Technology noted that the project will make a huge contribution to the development and reconstruction of the Kato Polemidia area, giving it a completely new look and status. The new student campus, which will house about 700 students, will become a place of attraction for young people and will forever change the opinion of Limassol residents about the area as a whole, thereby bringing it undoubted benefit. By the way, the new campus will become the largest infrastructure project of the university, making a significant contribution to meeting the growing needs of students for housing at affordable prices, as well as improving the quality of students life.
We present a project that will remain in the history of the university as, in my opinion, the largest development facility since its inception. The new dormitory will become a project that we all want to be proud of, - said the rector of the university, professor Panagiotis Zafeiris. In turn, the chairman of the jury and member of the board of TEPAK Katerina Nikita thanked everyone who contributed to the successful organization of the architectural competition, which, according to her, was of great interest, both from Cyprus and abroad. The construction of the student residences of our University in the former Berengaria settlement was a great team effort of our University over the last 8 years at least. This year we managed again with a team effort to see the start of work on the student residences and other infrastructure in the Berengaria area. The effort over the years undoubtedly had to find us facing many obstacles and difficulties. We will soon organize a groundbreaking ceremony to celebrate this success as well and to thank again everyone inside and outside the University who contributed to this project. Below is a brief timeline/history as given to me by the relevant department of our University June 2015 - Report of the president of the TEPAK Council at the graduation ceremony regarding the university's effort to secure part of the site in the former Berengaria settlement for the construction of student residences 16/10/2018 - Ministerial decision for the disposal of part of the area of the former settlement of Berengaria for the purpose of housing TEPAK and specifically for the construction of student residences, sports facilities and laboratory spaces 26/9/2019 - Council Decision 96(A)/26.09.19 - Session on Competition Methodology for the construction of Student Residences in the former settlement of Berengaria - Council Decision to announce an Architectural Competition
